Unfair Pricing Policies

I ordered a bed on June 26th, and on July 1 the same bed went on sale. It had not even shipped yet, but Birch Lane refused to cancel my order or match the sale price. In the past I've ordered from Wayfair and said I would just buy the bed at the sale price and return the original one when I received it, but they informed me that they no longer offered free shipping - in fact they are now "enforcing" it because it was an unwritten rule. I tried multiple times to contact them and request another review of my case but they are just using predatory pricing policies!

I tried to cancel an order less than 1…

I tried to cancel an order less than 1 hour after placing it because the email order confirmation stated that the chair wouldn't be delivered until 4 months later. I was told that they would "try" and that I would receive an email within 3 days. I never received an email. $1300 was charged to my credit card, though, and after further attempts to cancel this order, I've been told no. And the chair is still showing expected delivery 4 months out! IF you choose to do this business with this company, read every single line of fine print before you hit the submit button. They state everywhere on their site in large, bold letters FREE, EASY RETURNS. Don't believe it.

Garbage merchandise

I placed a large order with them and all four of the items I have received so far are inferior in quality. All made in China.
Three items were defective yet I had to pay return shipping. Bull.
Stay away from Birch Lane, Wayfair, and Josh Lane. They are all the same company.

They falsely advertise a product to be…

They falsely advertise a product to be organic and when I received it it was full of Cancer Prop 65 tags. They charged me to return the product. I won;t never buy anything from them and I suggest everyone to avoid them. You always end up paying more with these cheap reseller that sell crap.

Given a 10% off coupon that expires on 6-5-21
5-5-21 Did not receive tracking information
Emailed to request update
Given NEW ship date of 5-19-21
Sent email to complain about the poor customer service
Received email basically pointing out that I was given a coupon and need to wait
5-7-21 Sent email to inform that the coupon and lack of real action is insulting
Received email that reads as “Yup” and they said they have marked the request as critical.

SMT said the warehouse was probably closed on the holiday. They asked that I allow one more day for tracking a number to be provided.
6-2-21 No call by 10:00 am
I sent a message to SMT requesting parts no later than Saturday or I want a full refund.
SMT gives me a direct extension, for Courtnie, that they previously said did not exist.
I called Courtnie and she couldn’t be reached.
Talked to the new agent. Requested no later than Saturday for delivery or money back. $1729.94
Lance the supervisor took over. I Gave him the same option. He decided to refund.

I asked for a gift card for my birthday having seen a daybed i really wanted. My brother gave me a $75 gift card which i have had for two years now. I had changed my mind on the bed, but really upon closer searching had a hard time finding anything I needed in that price range. Every season I check to see if there is something i can get for the upcoming holiday. I saw a pair of pictures in your wall art section and I really really liked them. They were sold as a pair for $84 and I put them in my cart for a few weeks and while I was shopping in Marshalls I saw the exact pictures sold individually for $24 each, almost 50% less than yours in my cart,so I went home and make sure they were the same. They were, so I went back to Marshalls and they were gone. Since I had the gift card, I placed my order with you like I planned. Today I received them and the quality is only worth what Marshalls was charging for them. The frames where light weight like Balsa wood and when I picked them up my fingers stuck to the edges. In mass production, you can tell the Wexford MFG co’s process, is to pop a frame on a print, turn them over (probably on a conveyer belt), they get sprayed with glue and a backing is applied to finish off the back. Well the backing is at least 1/4” from each side and very sticky. The papers in the box, invoice and mounting info were stuck to the frame because of the spray glue. After these hang for a few months, i am sure dust will be stuck to them as well. I (who have worked in retail for 49 years) have seen a severe reduction in quality, quality control, customer service, a sharp decline in hands on shopping and a severe level of anxiety shopping on line. It makes me only want to give gift cards now because i don’t put much faith into “value” when purchasing on line. And just because a catalogs products look elegant and the prices are more than you care to pay, does not make it a good value for the money. I am hard pressed to find even 1 online or catalog that offers great value any more, because we are unfortunately a world that values quantity over quality in a very disposable world. A good value for this product is paying Marshall’s price at $24. Each because that is all these are worth. Wood is Comparable to Balsa wood, it is not glass, but plexiglass glass, and the backing is skimpy at best I even have to install the hangers you did provide. Where is the value for $93.59?

WARNING!! DON'T BUY FROM BIRCH & LANE to the top

I ordered the “Wiggins upholstered low profile standard full-size bed” from Birch Lane on January 2, 2021. But instead on January 9, 2021, they sent me a footboard, rails and slats from the “Cassville” bed without a headboard.

In disappointment, I called Birch & Lane to cancel my order because I didn’t have a headboard. They told me I had to wait six days before they could intervene because that was their protocol. In the meantime, they gave me a new tracking number to get shipping updates on the missing headboard.

While awaiting the six days, this is when I realized that not only did I not receive the headboard, but the footboard was the wrong brand. On my shipping order, Birch Lane sent me an item labeled the “Cassville Linen Footboard and Rails and Slats.” On my receipt, it says I purchased the “Wiggins Upholstered bed” from Birch Lane. When I looked up the “Cassville bed” in the Birch Lane website, I couldn’t find it anywhere. So, I researched the web to find that it was a cheaper bed on Wayfair. Why am I receiving a bed from Wayfair which, has a lesser value than the one I purchased through Birch Lane? Also, I’m unable to track updates on the headboard through the tracking id they gave me.

On the 6th day, I called again to cancel my order and receive a full refund. I was told I could receive a partial refund once they pick up the wrong items (Cassville footboard, rails and slats) that were delivered to my home. They also said I would have to wait another 6 days to see if the headboard would arrive at my home and then have it picked up Birch Lane to receive the full refund. What makes me even more furious is that the partial refund they are trying to give me is not even half of what I initially paid for the bed. Once again, Birch Lane disregarded my concerns and told me to wait an additional six days for shipment changes (regarding my headboard) that I no longer want.

The customer service is trash. The lady I spoke with from the Birch Lane’s customer service department was practically reading off a manuscript while ignoring my concerns. I even asked to speak to the supervisor but was never given that opportunity. ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME???

My time and money have been stolen by Birch Lane. Don’t ever shop here unless you want to deal with a SCAMMER.
